Today two men from the Vancouver Stealth Professional Lacrosse Team paid us a visit. Students learned that Lacrosse is our national sport, and that it was invented by Canadian First Nations people. During P.E. everyone had a chance to develop some Lacrosse skills- we had a great time, and many expressed an interest in playing lacrosse again!

Hello there!
We are starting a new science unit during Theme block- Simple Machines! Students started with a brief review and discovery project. From there we will move into simple machines explorations. Starting next week we need to compile some basic materials. I'm able to supply most of the items required, but if you have any of the following items, please send them along:
We had a great time skating this morning. A big thank-you to the parents who came along for the walk, and helped with skates!
Our field trip to the Vancouver Art Gallery was a great success! Students experienced a wide range of conceptual multi-media art pieces, took part in discussions, studied line/pattern through sketching, and finished off with a mixed media workshop. I hope you enjoy the pictures. A big thank-you to all parent volunteers, we couldn't have done it without you! Hello Families,
Tomorrow is the field trip to the Vancouver Art Gallery. Thank-you to all who volunteered to drive and help supervise our students! We will meet at the school Wednesday, January 25th at 8:30am

We are preparing for a field trip to the Vancouver Art Gallery on Wednesday, January 25th. Students will spend the day exploring a wonderful multimedia display of art in an exhibition called "Vancouver Special". More about the exhibition can be found below. Please note that we require parent volunteers for driving and supervision during this field trip. A field trip notice was sent home with each student Friday, Jan. 13th. Please complete and return to me by January 20th. Thank-you! Vancouver Special As written on the V.A.G. website: Photograms, digital drawings, collaged boxes, paintings, video, hand-printed fabric, and sculpture represent the diversity of works in this contemporary exhibition by emerging Vancouver artists. Students will explore the materials, processes and influences of the artists which range from electronic music to Ashinaabe quillwork to fictional literature to hot dog eaters and more. The workshop will use mixed media. |
